The Merry Drinker is a dilapidated, overweight writer in his forties. At one time or another he has been paid to write novels, scripts for television and cinema, technical manuals, web pages, magazine articles, dictionary entries, diplomatic correspondence and threatening letters. He is British by nationality, but was born in Italy and has spent much of his life there. Currently he lives in the United States.
